That way they could be at ground level when it snowed. <br /><br />also on the main street in St John's NL, the parking meters were on the building side of the sidewalks, so that they wouldn't be pushed over when clearing the snow.<br /><br />We get lots of snow in most places around BC but not on southern Vancouver Island nor Vancouver east to Hope.
