I don't think engineers really think about where the oil goes when you remove the filter or plug or they just don't care. On the Tenere I still do it myself.GFhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08254196892811043203noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5247474336436209096.post-74816746638218857832014-12-31T17:20:10.935-06:002014-12-31T17:20:10.935-06:00I change oil on 3, the last one gets done by peopl...I change oil on 3, the last one gets done by people that can reach up, behind and over from beneath......These days I'm only willing (and able?) to go so far.

Coop a.k.a. No pan to mess around with at all. After loosening the oil filter (also vertical) I put a gallon zip-lock bag around the filter which catches all of the oil that wants to drip down your arm. When finished, nothing to clean up.

The motorcycles make more of a mess...RichardMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04773834892715980735noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5247474336436209096.post-73825379374358842942014-12-30T10:44:50.030-06:002014-12-30T10:44:50.030-06:00I agree with Sonja, ugh messy work. Also, in Germany there are (no surprise here) rules against potential contamination, and will be heavily fined. In our rented garage maintenance of any kind is verboten!SonjaMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12389245948579828531noreply@blogger.com
