Our 5 Dollar Christmas Tree!

The Sawyer County Forestry Department has a program where a person can cut their own Christmas tree on County Forest land. Nancy wanted to find a tree out in the woods rather than buy one from any of the roadside tree sellers. So, after paying our $5 permit fee to the County, we were off to the forest.

We drove out into County forest land and started looking. A little while later, I parked the truck on the side the road and we walked down an ATV trail towards a promising patch of green.

It took a little looking...

But we found a nice tree.

Once we got it home the cats were all over it! I think if it survives the night and is still standing in the morning, we'll be OK.

3 of the 5 cats under the tree!

  1. Cats and Christmas trees.....you'd think the combo goes back eons into time. May your tree stay vertical and fully ornamented!

    1. I already caught them using it as a scratching post!!! I hope I don't have to nail it to the floor to keep it upright

  2. Just wait until they start sitting in the branches. Especially if you have some nice, warm lights...

    1. I've had to chase them out from under it a few times when I noticed they were sniffing at the water. The nice thing about this Charlie Brown Christmas tree is the branches probably won't hold a cat!

  3. I am waiting for the picture of at least one of them perched in the tree. Yep, waiting for the follow up pics.

Is that sunshine I see in the picture of you carrying the tree? I remember sunshine.

    1. I'll keep an eye open for cat/tree pictures.

We had a warm day last week and almost all the snow melted. It's been cold with highs in the 20's. Yes, there was some sunshine on Saturday, cool but sunny!

  4. I can see how the cats will be helping you messing up (I mean dressing up) the Christmas Tree. Nothing would be done around the house without the cats.

  5. Got snow? We have about 3 inches now.

That's a really good deal that the county offers. You got a great tree!

    1. As of 10:30 tonight we have 4.5 inches and still falling heavy, but no wind!!!

I like the tree. It's kind of a thin one, but I suppose that's what you find in a forest. It had a lot of comepetition for sunlight with all the tall deciduous trees around it. It would probably look different if it were growing out in an open field and had been trimmed every year.

  6. They look real comfortable under the tree. mmmhhh now I can't tell what really attracts them, the cloth or the tree.
