It's Over for the Year...

Late in the evening of Thursday, November 17th, it started to rain. By Friday night the rain had turned to snow. Earlier in the week I had taken each of the bikes out for one last ride. I stopped by the local gas station for a fill of no-ethanol premium and a shot of Sta-bil before pulling them into the garage for the last time.

I had to do a lot of rearranging to get everything to fit...

I hope to have a shed or another garage by next winter. There are too many things sitting around outside.

It was kind of an off year for riding. No long trips, not even a multi day in-state trip. My riding buddy, John, moved up to the area from St. Paul this summer, so I spent a lot of time with that. The addition of a car cut down on some riding too. Nancy can't ride on the bike, so we put quite a few miles on the car this summer.

I've got a couple of ideas for some rides for next year. Maybe this winter I'll try and come up with a route and a list of things to see...

  1. Erik, I have garage envy! If I had space to put even one vehicle in what I considered indoor storage I'd be ecstatic ... how many have you got there? The John Deer and the Rincon get semi indoor but that's it for here ...but we got an additional day of 'summer' before the snow hit by the sound of it. Saturday was positively balmy.

    1. Thanks Karen, there's a truck, 2 cars, 2 motorcycles, 1 tractor, a log splitter, a tiller, lawn mower and snow blower, plus a few J-D implements in the garage... It's packed pretty full.

Outside is my 4x8 trailer, my Allis-Chalmers tractor, and the loader off the front of the J-D. I need more covered storage.

  2. Erik, my living space is smaller than your garage... looks very neat in there. 2016 was a bit light on the two-wheeled side for me, too. Now is the time to make some plans for next year. Let's make sure we'll get some riding in, shall we?

  3. I still think the size of your garage is the envy of many. Lots of fun toys in there too.

    1. It is what sold me on the house when we were moving up here. I walked into the empty garage and said, "I've seen enough, sold!"..

    1. The snow blower for the front of the tractor is just sitting on a furniture dolly, but it's in about the correct place. There's also a 24", 5hp, walk-behind over against the wall next to the silver car.

Up here, winter could start any time from Halloween to a few weeks before Christmas. Spring might come early, but then there's always a chance of snow until mid May... For gardening, last frost is usually between June 1 to the 10th!!! LONG, long winters!

  5. Erik,
I know where at least one of your rides should be, maybe even two!

Have a snug winter up there!
