I've had the itch to take a motorcycle trip for a while now. So, on Wednesday, 6-12-13, I scratched that itch. I got a late start, but it doesn't matter... I don't even know where I'm going!
I left home and headed west. I had been thinking of South Dakota and maybe much further west! I crossed WI on hwy 77 and rode into MN.
It was lunch time when I got to Hinckley, MN. I had to stop at here. It's the closest one to my home...
I was going to cut diagonally across MN on 23, but dark rain clouds conspired against me. I had a bit of rain near Mora, MN, but it really started raining after Cold Spring. I tried to change directions in an attempt to get around the rain. I had no luck. I rode in the rain all the way to Worthington, MN. At one point I was totally lost. My usual "sense of direction" was not working in the rain, I had to put my GPS away because of the rain, and of all the paper maps I brought, Minnesota was not one of them! It reaaly didn't matter though, I have no plan.. or even destination.
I stopped for the night at the KOA in Mitchell, SD. I got the last Kamper Kabin. I was already wet and it looked like it might rain some more. I wanted to dry off.

Riding the Wet Coast
Thanks Bob. I'm not sure where I'm going, but I'll figure it out when I get there.
DeleteDon't know where you're going so there is no point in being late..... or something like that hubby always says.
ReplyDeleteHead west young man and see where you end up. Maybe you can outrun the rain at some point.
You are out on two wheels so it is a win/win either way. Above all else, have fun.
Exactly! It doesn't matter where I go or when I get there... And yup, 2 wheels is all that matters.
DeleteErik - a kamping kabin in the rain (an oasis)... and the last one! Luck is with you. Can't wait to hear where you end up. They say, "It never rains in California..."
ReplyDeleteI think some of the KOAs need to re-think their prices. Last night at $44 wasn't bad, but today, I stopped in at the KOA of Deadwood and was quoted $60 tonight and 75 for Friday! Tent sites were $30! Unbelievable. A few blocks down the road, there was a motel with $39 rooms...
DeleteSounds like a lot of fun. Be sure to let us know if "?" is a good place to visit. And if the food is good...
ReplyDeleteWhen I get to ?, I'll let you know if it's worth it and review the food!
DeleteHow come we have so many fruits and nuts in this state, if it never rains here?
ReplyDeleteSafe and fun travels! Keep posting up when you get the chance! :)
I may just end up out in CA.. I don't know for sure.
