Home!

Wednesday....

We Started the morning with breakfast at Dori's Cafe in White Sulphur Springs...

From then on it was pretty much just gas up and go for the next 630 miles... We arrived in Gettysburg, SD just as the sun was setting.

One of the things we like to do on a road trip is, never make a plan or a reservation. It has worked for us. I'm sure there are others that have to plan each day and never travel without making reservations for the night.... Not us... We found an affordable motel in town.

I'm sure it was a very nice place back in the 60's, and it has survived time quite well. It was still a decent place for a $49.00 double/$39.00 single. The bathroom was interestingly tiled..

Thursday...

Back on to east bound US-212...

Another day of gas up and go... I split off from John near down town Minneapolis and turned to go north. After a 537 mile day it was good to be home.

Even the Deer were waiting for me to get home. I saw several along the side of Hwy 63, and Momma Deer and her baby were waiting in my driveway.

15 days on the road and 4663 miles...

I'm glad to be home!

  2. Woohoo for making it home safe. So good to hear when a road trip has been incident free.

That is a lot of miles packed into two weeks. My butt would be sore after one or two days.

Thanks for sharing all the pictures.

    1. Thanks, We try to go cheap! most of the time it works out OK. Sometimes the room is a bit more $$$ than I'd like, but you've got to pay to have fun

All of your machines deserve a good loop before the weather turns.

    1. Thanks, I've spent the last few days in the garage, changing oil in bikes, cars and trucks... and trying to get 4000 miles of bugs and road grime off!

  6. Erik:

I saw lots of older motels in Indiana for as low as $35. Looked clean on the outside and several to choose from

not many cheap ones as you near the Pacific Coast.

I am liking the unplanned type of trips but hard to do in British Columbia where accommodations are scarce and you find yourself without a home for the night. It has happened several times in Kelowna area. It even happened in Central WA we had to ride from Yakima to nearly Seattle to find a place

    1. I think that's why we try real hard to avoid ending the day near a large city or a large tourist area. We also try to avoid the multi-lane highways and try to stick to small towns.
      Maybe we've just been lucky!
