Delightful.... Welcome to Wisconsin where the weather is never boring and predictable, like Hawaii. Could you imagine living in a place with no weather challenges, no variation from the normal and consistent, yet boring, "perfect" weather? Yuck! Give me 4 seasons!
I'd like to say that we have a lot of snow in our area, but it pales in comparison to some places. last week, Nancy and I took a short road trip to Ironwood, MI. The Upper Peninsula (U.P.) area receives a ton more snow than us. They get huge "lake-effect" snows that can dump over 200" of snow in a season! The heavy snow in the U.P. should taper off soon, as Lake Superior is almost frozen over.
Here's a few shots from the yard this afternoon...
I only regret not getting gas for the snow blower before this latest round of winter delight!
I went to town and got some gas for the snow blower. It was a lot nicer today, Tuesday, than it was when I took the pics above!
By late afternoon the snow was melting and the temps were above 33!
The sun shine has warmed the wood piles and all the snow came sliding off!

Forget the snow blower, you need a Bobcat! Plus it'll be more fun playing in the dirt...
ReplyDeleteI have been seriously looking into a compact tractor with a front end loader, but a bobcat would be fun!
DeleteWe've got enough....you have more :)
ReplyDeleteThere's enough here too!
DeleteSwap your snow for flooded fields..?
ReplyDeleteWelcome Walter, Thanks for stopping by. Spring can get interesting with all the snow melt. There are a couple of rivers near by that fill up and flow pretty fast in the spring.
DeleteYup Erik - that looks about right from here!
ReplyDeleteYour area probably gets plenty of snow each winter?

ReplyDeleteI've never seen so much snow. All we get is rain

I'll try and see if Nancy has any pics from the U.P. The piles at the ends of driveways were 10+ feet tall!

DeleteI remember when we went to NL (Newfoundland), most of their front doors had no front steps and were at least 5 ft off the ground. That way they could be at ground level when it snowed.
also on the main street in St John's NL, the parking meters were on the building side of the sidewalks, so that they wouldn't be pushed over when clearing the snow.
We get lots of snow in most places around BC but not on southern Vancouver Island nor Vancouver east to Hope. We are fine as long as we stay close to home

"4 seasons"? Every Wisconsinite knows we have only 2 seasons!
ReplyDeleteFrozen and road construction? It seemed like that when I lived in the cities..
DeleteThat little squirrel does not look like he is enjoying the weather.
ReplyDeleteWe made sure all our bird feeders were full during the snow and were amazed at the dozens of birds at the feeders and little brown squirrels hanging off them too. They were all hungry.
They don't let sow stop them from coming out for some bread or corn. He's looking a little snow dusted. We get mostly Woodpeckers, Nuthatches, and Chickadees at our feeders. The Crows are always around too.
DeleteDelightful? Excuse me but now it's official: you must be insane. But I have to say I admire your stamina and your good spirits (but yet again it might simply the madness talking).
ReplyDeleteKeep it up, Erik! You Wisconians (Wisconsins?) are definitely a special breed.
Cheers from the Black Forest at 50F.
Today, the sun is shinning brightly and there's water running off the roof! The next 3 days it is supposed to be over 33F ...... !!!!!!
DeleteWinter has got to fight harder to make me go mad!!
Good for you, Sir!
