It seemed like last winter was the winter that would never end. The local lakes were still frozen over when Fishing Season opened on the first Saturday in May last year. I think we're on track to have that happen again this year. Nancy and I were speaking to the Vet yesterday, he had been ice fishing earlier in the week and had to auger through more than 4' (1.22 meters) of ice!
And, just when I thought this winter was giving way to spring and huge patches of gravel were showing through the ice on the driveway.... The National Weather Service issues a Winter Storm Warning! It started snowing again last night and it still continues today. The wind is blowing and the drifts are rising... again.
We're coping the best way possible...
While outside the storm continues!
Yeah!!!!

I have seen enough of your winter ;-)
ReplyDeleteAnd we get 'beer garden temperatures' in the Black Forest.
Hey, I've seen enough of our winter too! My sister has been in contact with some of our Norwegian relatives. They've had an unusually warm dry winter.
DeleteWe still have at least another month or so of a high probability of snow. But the sun has been warming things sufficiently so that I may not even need to get the hardpack removed from the driveway as the ice is just about gone from the top. I'm sure that it'll melt as quickly as it came. Now if you had a street legal snowmachine (read sidecar) your wouldn't be as concerned.
ReplyDeleteA side car on the Wr250 would make winter a lot of fun! I'll have to keep my eyes open for an enduro with a 3rd wheel...
DeleteYour mackerel cats are simply stunning. Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOrange and white kitties are the sweetest (shhhh) and black cats...well... from my experience they are just loud!
I gasped when I read 4 feet of ice! We have rain and chilly temps here. I don't know how you cope...
The 2 matching ones are brothers. One of them is the most talkative cat I've ever seen.... His name is Screamer! The orange one is a sweety, but he wasn't always. He was a feral cat that gave up the wild life for warmth one winter! The black one was our first cat. He's the purrrfect cat!
DeleteWe got about 10 inches in my neck of the woods. Definitely ready for it to be done! My bike has been parked for way too long...
ReplyDeleteI was talking to my sister in Bloomington, and she thinks they picked up about 6-8" This has been a brutal winter.
DeleteErik:
ReplyDeleteIf I've learned anything this Winter. it's that if I ever live where you live, I'd rather be a cat
I hope Spring comes soon

A weekend photographer or Riding the Wet Coast
Yes, the cats do live a pampered life in our home.
Deletejust found the blog and have been reading back thru all of it
ReplyDeletegreat reading but when do you get to ride up there with all that white stuff on the ground
Welcome! It's nice to know when new people find my blog.
DeleteIt can be a mental and physical challenge to make it through a winter here. It seems like it never ends.
A great thing about reading the blogs of other riders around the world is, in the dead of winter up here, I can follow the ride reports of riders down under!
Kitties!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy sleepy kitties are the best. I think I could handle longer winters as long as I had snuggly kitties and roaring fires. Otherwise, no way, lol
Hope it melts soon - it has to eventually. How is your wood supply holding out?
The kitties have the right idea! The fireplace was going all day making it a great day to stay in.
DeleteI've got plenty of wood and the pantry's well stocked, so all's good!
