Now that the 2011 riding season is over, I have the milage figures.
'09 Kawasaki Zx-14...start 16,788 end 29,209 for the year 12,421
'06 Yamaha FJR ......start 25,145 end 26,791 for the year 1,646
There are 11,089 miles(17,843 Kilometers) on the set of Michelin Pilot Road 2 tires on the Zx-14. I mounted them 6-10-2011. They are well worn and starting to cup. I wouldn't take them on another road trip, but they'll be OK for another 1,000 or so miles this spring. I have one more set of the PR2's ready to mount.
I think I need to re-evaluate keeping the FJR, but it is such a sweet ride.

Must tot up my km's for the year...
ReplyDeleteYou've got damn good mileage out of your PR2's! I get 12,000km out of them on the Connie. Currently trying out PR3's...
Double it next year mate.....I will be watching!
ReplyDeleteGood for you in putting that many miles on two wheels in 2011.
ReplyDeleteI only managed about 3600 miles on the Gladius since purchasing in March and I don't think I put many on my TU 250 in January or February prior to selling it.
Happy New Year.
Erik - 11000 miles on a set of tyres is amazing. I am lucky if I can get 5000km out of a set of tyres for my bike.
ReplyDeleteEveryone, Thanks for the comments. I really can't complain about the mileage out of the set of PR2s. They hold up nice and don't cup like some other tires I've run. I think running at 42psi f/r helps for tire life. I really tried to keep an eye on the pressure with this set. I needed them to last.
ReplyDeleteI'll see how the miles rack up next year. I'd sure like to travel more. I guess the only thing holding me back is ME.
Erik.
Erik,
ReplyDeleteWhat I'd like to know is whether you'd act as my PR agent to persuade my wife to let me have a second bike. I don't know how you do it but I'm full of admiration!
Geoff,
ReplyDeleteI'm very lucky to have the "significant other" that I have. She pretty much gives me the freedom to do what ever I want.
I wish I could help you.
Erik.
Your total sounds pretty nice to me; I managed mid-11K this season, down from what I've been used to.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'll look into the PR2's for my bigger bike since I've not tried them yet. New ones haven't been a priority now that I'm riding the other machines more, but it is time for a new set.
We'll have to compare totals this coming season ;)
Coop, I'm looking forward to seeing some posts about the bikes you have now.
ReplyDeleteI've had great luck with the PR2 tires. I shop motorcycle-superstore.com for them.
Erik.
