A Little Taste of Things to Come!

Last night Nancy and I were up pretty late. At one point she yelled, "look outside, it's snowing!". Not really believing her, I walked to the rear patio door and turned on the spot lights. There it was. Big flakes of snow. Before midnight on the 21st of September.

This is what Fall looks like from our front window... Pretty standard Maple colors...

This is the view out the back door last night!

There was even a little snow still on the ground at 8:45 this morning!

  1. I love the colours of the trees they are fantastic. Still must be a bit chilly in your parts with that snow.

  2. Pretty standard Maple colors... that's an understatement. Autumn leaves are beautiful, what a nice view! But snow? I don't need to have that just yet.

    1. The area around here is loaded with Maples. It's nice to see such bright colors from any room in the house. We have about 2 more weeks to the peak color season.

Today was the first day of Fall and it snowed before midnight last night, so that makes it.... a summer snow?

  3. Erik:

I feel so sorry for you (not really) We have been drier than normal and the trend is forecast to continue. I am not fond of snow, so better to keep it on the East side of the Rockies. I like your fall colours.

    1. Bob, I'm not really a fan of winter. I never understood why anyone would ride snowmobiles... I would get no joy out of being outside at say 0°F, and riding 60 MPH on a sled... that would be like a -33°F wind chill.
I much prefer a warm fireplace and a few good books!

  4. Well ain't that a kick in the pants. Weird to think you had snow and we are supposed to see a high f 78 today.

Love all the fall colors. Ours are just starting to turn, maples first of course.

    1. My long distance riding buddy, John, jokes that I have a month shorter riding season now that I live up north. Winter comes 2 weeks earlier and stays 2 weeks longer... We'll see, he may be right.

  5. Dare I say it but today hit 65°F and not a trace of the white stuff. A friend from the NWS mentioned that we may see a little this week but nothing that's going to stick. Your trees look a lot better than ours which have dropped most of their leaves.

    1. Next week should be the color peak, then it's all brown and dead looking until spring. This will be my first full winter up here. The neighbors say that last winter was nothing like a normal one. I thought I was buried in snow, but I guess we normally get a lot more.

  6. Lol, don't remind me, I hate winter. This morning it was in the low 60's in Philly and winter is just around the corner.
