We only get the yellows here. Not many Maples, our trees are mostly evergreens . Some years we don't get any white at all, I'm hoping that this is one of those years.
I live in a predominately hardwood area, although there are a few areas of pine forest too. I understand that about 10 years ago there was a Oak tree disease that came through the area and took out most of the large Oaks. That's too bad, but it did make for a lot more color in the fall!
Karen, I have 3 bikes. The big green one you've seen. A little blue Yamaha Wr250x, pictured above that I like to ride on all the trails and fire roads around here, and an '06 Yamaha FJR. It kind of duplicates the purpose of the green Ninja, but I bought it back in '06 when I smashed a Goldwing into a deer. The Ninja came along in '09...
Great pictures Eric. Maples are always so pretty when they turn.
That is what we were looking for in our ride yesterday, but almost everything is still green. While Brad was setting up the tripod I was taking bike and scenery pictures so when I have time I'll post them.
It is interesting to see the contrast on where the seasons are from the bloggers living in different areas.
I use this blog to share my motorcycle road trips, and a small portion of my daily life, with my friends and family. It is a constantly changing work in progress!
Thanks for looking, and please, feel free to leave a comment!!!
From one of my favorite motorcycle movies, "One Week".
"When you get those rare moments of clarity, those flashes when the universe makes sense, you try desperately to hold onto them. They are the lifeboats for the darker times, when the vastness of it all, the incomprehensible nature of life is completely elusive. So the question becomes or should have been all along, what would you do if you knew you only had one day, or one week, or one month to live. What lifeboat would you grab onto? What secret would you tell? What band would you see? What person would you declare your love to? What wish would you fulfill? What exotic locale would you fly to for coffee? What book would you write?" ------- Ben Tyler
Took a look down a westbound road, Right away I made my choice Headed out to my big two-wheeler, I was tired of my own voice Took a bead on the northern plains And just rolled that power on
Twelve hours out of Mackinaw City Stopped in a bar to have a brew Met a girl and we had a few drinks And I told her what I'd decided to do
She looked out the window a long long moment Then she looked into my eyes She didn't have to say a thing, I knew what she was thinkin'
Roll, roll me away, Won't you roll me away tonight I too am lost, I feel double-crossed And I'm sick of what's wrong and what's right
We never even said a word, We just walked out and got on that bike And we rolled And we rolled clean out of sight
We rolled across the high plains Deep into the mountains Felt so good to me Finally feelin' free
Somewhere along a high road The air began to turn cold She said she missed her home I headed on alone
Stood alone on a mountain top, Starin' out at the great divide I could go east, I could go west, It was all up to me to decide
Just then I saw a young hawk flyin' And my soul began to rise And pretty soon My heart was singin'
Roll, roll me away, I'm gonna roll me away tonight Gotta keep rollin, gotta keep ridin', Keep searchin' till I find what's right
And as the sunset faded I spoke to the faintest first starlight And I said next time, Next time we'll get it right.

Nice reds! Our colors are boring by comparison though we have yet to see any significant amount of white yet....
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping that the white stuff was just a freak thing and not something that's going to continue again soon!

Deletereally nice picc's...Autumn with out a doubt is my favourite month.
ReplyDeleteI really like the colors in the fall too. It's too bad that the colorful time is so short, and winter is right around the corner.
DeleteErik - beautiful pictures. Our maples are just beginning to change. I too love this time of year. Thanks for sharing your colours.
ReplyDeleteErik - PS. I recognize big green, but who's on little blue?

DeleteI just met someone last Sunday who rode his WR250X from Maryland to Alaska this summer. With camping gear...
DeleteHoly Crap!!! that's along way to go on a 250!!!! And loaded with camping gear!
DeleteBeautiful. See, that's what the snow was for, giving the leaves the temperatures to do what they do when they change colours.
ReplyDeleteEvery day there's a bit more color. I'll try and get some local pictures of colors at their peak.

I agree, it's kind of cool to see the pictures of other bloggers areas and the status of their local seasons!
DeleteGreat photos and I love little blue, have you got a set of knobbies for it?
ReplyDeleteNo, but when the street tires wear out I'll think about a tire made for a little more off road.
