Winter is determined to stick it out and is going down swinging! I know that Spring will eventually win the battle, but it looks like it won't be until late in the 12th round.
We just picked up 3 or 4 more inches of heavy wet snow.
A few more pictures from this morning.... our yard...

Snow and Ice...
So how different is this Spring from last year??
These are from 4-17-2012.. note the lack of snow and ice! I don't think it will look like this in 10 more days!
One more comparison...

Erik - The scene from your back yard would be spectacular if it was December. I am beginning to think spring may not win the fight this year, but I've got my fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteLast year at this time there was no ice on the lakes, no snow and the rods through the forest were dry!
DeleteMaybe this will mean a bit higher water levels... that would be nice.
Oh...how very northern Wisconsin looking. I'm having flashbacks.
ReplyDeleteI love the deer photo. Did you make the little trellises? Are they willow or ash? I have always loved twiggy things.
Snow this time of year can make things collapse. I hope the snow is done with you now. It's been trying to rain here for a few days, but nothing so far but drizzle. It's so grimy all over. We need a good washing! Might be 60 degrees tomorrow with rain. THAT sounds like spring. Y'all need to move down south here!
Nancy took a willow building class up in Superior last year. She's made a few things out of the saplings that grow wild in the ditch in front of the house. I'm not sure what she used to make the trellises. I'm thinking they might be birch. The bark reminds me of pretzels, dark brown with small white spots, like salt on a pretzel.
DeleteI'll have to add more pictures to this post. I got some more shots from the yard!
Move south.. hehehehe NO WAY!! Way too much wildlife around here!
Noooooo snow......
ReplyDeleteDamn persistent stuff this year for you. The snow pics are very pretty though. Of course I liked the kitty pics too. How do they like the snow? Basil won't even walk on the deck when we get snow. He'll only skirt the perimeter of the house where it is bare.
There was a time when the boys liked to walk in deep snow. Since we moved up here, their outdoor time has been almost cut off. Now, they walk and shake their feet a lot.. So I guess they like out side, but not the snow.
DeleteAgain? Mr Winter is not giving up yet. Still, it looks kinda pretty. How interesting that the cats don't seem to mind the white stuff.
ReplyDeleteThis has been a mild temp, but darn persistent winter!! It just won't quit... I hope this means a mild cool spring and summer.
DeleteNice shot of the deer and the icy leaves. We are having snow today as well. I figured that it was because I came back home. Apparantly it was beautiful weather all last week.
ReplyDeleteMore snow on the forecast for the next 4 days! That little taste of riding just made the PMS (parked motorcycle syndrome) worse.
DeleteVenison!
ReplyDeleteI've made that comment to the wife before.... she just looks at me like I threatened to kill one of the cats.
DeleteWe'll see if she changes her mind this year, I want to put in a garden and hopefully I can fence it good enough to keep the forest rats out!
Isn't that referred to as baiting....
DeleteErik:
ReplyDeleteweather patterns are sure mixed up. From extreme heat last year to longer Winters this year. Here is mostly the same as normal except we hardly had any Winter this year. Just a bit of snow in December and that's it, no more and now it is getting warmer, but unfortunately with lots of rain
Your time should be coming soon

Riding the Wet Coast
Cute deer mean more deer ticks - mean more worry. I love looking at the doe-eyed deer but the lyme disease, deer tick problem is rampant in this area. I prefer bunnies (and snow scared tabby cats.)
