A Few More Fall Color Photographs.

We've had a lot of rain the last few days and it's knocked a lot of leaves off the trees. Overall, the color has probably past it's peak, but some of the trees still look good.

Some of the many Maples...

And another...

Even the Oak trees are turning...

The bright red Maple is almost bare... The one on the right.

As the leaves fall, interesting things are exposed...

Nancy has put the Halloween old guy out by the road. It's stuffed with paper and wired to a post. He's waving at the traffic, well, the 5 or 6 cars that drive by during the day...

All the Blackberries have been picked and the plants have started to go dormant. All the Ferns and other under brush are quickly wilting away. Soon the trees will be bare and Winter will arrive. :(

  1. I don't think I will ever tire of the turning leaves against the blue sky. And as to what the falling leaves uncovered, I know quite a few that view them as targets. Even in the middle of the summer, they'll take them out with a 12 gauge (from a moderate distance).

    1. A 12 gauge would certainly do the job! There's another one hanging over the neighbors driveway. I keep watching to make sure it doesn't fall as I ride by.

    1. I feel really lucky to live up here in northern Wisconsin. I don't think I'd want to live anywhere else... That might change if we get a ton of snow.

I look at all your fallen leaves and wonder who is going to pick them all up. We used to have trees in front of our previous house and it seemed that the wind caused all the leaves to drop onto OUR front lawn and no one else's. So every year I had to rake them up and put them into bags and it seemed that all the other yards had no leaves on them, only mine.

I also liked your mailbox man. He looks so real.

Your pumkin is out already !!! We still have 4 weeks to go

    1. I plan to let the wind take care of most of the leaves. The lawn mower will mulch up the rest.

The pumpkin out by the road is fake. A real one just wouldn't last. The deer and squirrels would eat it.

  4. Lovin all the fall colors. Our maples are starting to turn but still have a lo of leaves.

Even though the trees start to look a little bare, as long as they have some color left they are a lovely sight to behold.

    Thanks for sharing.

  5. Richer colors up north than down here; we still may get some of it yet though. There doesn't seem to be agreement in the woods as to turn dates. I'm seeing bright green cornfields and some that must be yielding 10% moisture kernels. Really depends on soil and ridge/valley which I think makes a difference in the woods as well.
